Artemis is the Greek goddess of the hunt, wilderness, childbirth, and virginity. She is one of the twelve Olympian gods and goddesses who resided on Mount Olympus and was widely worshipped throughout ancient Greece.
Artemis is often depicted as a beautiful young woman with a bow and arrow, dressed in a short tunic and wearing a crescent moon on her forehead. She was known for her hunting skills and was often accompanied by a pack of hunting dogs.
As a virgin goddess, Artemis was particularly venerated by young women who wished to remain pure and chaste. In addition to her association with the hunt, Artemis was also considered a protector of young children, particularly girls.
Artemis was one of the most important deities in the Greek pantheon, and her worship extended beyond Greece to other parts of the ancient world. She was sometimes identified with the Roman goddess Diana, who shared many of her attributes.
